How to get Firefox to reload pages automatically?

How often do you have a page loaded, check something else, then come back to the first page and need it reloaded? I like buying on Ebay and want to watch items as the time runs out. With the old Opera I could set the page to reload every minute or 5 minutes and this worked well. I'd flip back to the Ebay page for a second and quickly check on everything then flip back to my work.

Is this possible somehow with Firefox 57?

The Firefox developers leave feature that aren't used widely to extension creators. WebExtensions should last longer than the classic XUL based extensions since they use builtin API functions that are compatible with other browsers. So there is no need not to give a refresh extension a try to see how this works out for you.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Don't leave the "first page"! Use middle-click or {Ctrl + Click} on the hyperlink to "something else" and when you are done with that tab close it. The "first page" should be exactly where you left it and not need to be reloaded.

I don't want to use an add-on as they frequently break upon a program upgrade. Surely there is a way of getting Firefox to do this on its own? If a 10 year old Opera browser can do it surely Firefox can as well.

Don't leave the first page???? Not sure where you live but here on Earth it doesn't matter if you leave the page to go to another tab or not. If you don't do anything on that first page after a few minutes you're logged out, like with banking websites. On a page like this of course that doesn't happen. On Ebay you need it reloaded to watch as the price changes. But mainly its financial websites that log you out after a few minutes of inactivity.
