I went to your home page, Downloaded your browser and when I finished bunch of pages opened with ads. now when I open your browser its search engine is a magnifying glass, followed by @MXDJ

I searched it and apparently it adware. I am concerned that your download has been infected with adware and now my pc as well. you should check your downloads to prevent this from continuing infecting other users.

another thought I had is maybe you placed this there on purpose as a means of revenue from those advertisers, in any case I am not happy about it.

how do you suggest we resolve this issue? options greatly appreciated.

Anthony

Did you update Firefox via "Help -> About Firefox" because Firefox from the Mozilla server doesn't come with malware/adware?

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins or scanning for malware then such a message is likely a scam and you should NEVER respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.

  • only update Firefox via "Help -> About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
  • plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.

No version of desktop Firefox from www.mozilla.org and www.mozilla.org/firefox/all does not come with any adware.

It would be a very hot topic here, at independent mozillaZine forums and tech sites around if you claim was true about recent Release.

This is where I downloaded from, is this your site? its not one of the ones you posted in your answer.

oh and to answer the question as to whether or not I clicked on an update pop up, the answer is no. there was no update pop up just installed and immediately had adware.

Anything before or after .mozilla.org/ part is Mozilla as nobody else can use mozilla.org.

ex: support.mozilla.org bugzilla.mozilla.org blog.mozilla.org mozilla.org/firefox/all mozilla.org/about/ mozilla.org/contribute/

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Over_100_domains (some on list are discontinued or archived now)

Most of the Mods posting here are volunteers and do no work for Mozilla so it is not my site ;)

Well I still don't have an answer nor a solution, I have uninstalled and am working with Norton to make sure there is nothing left behind.

image wont upload but this is address in browser window. any web search for MXDJ toolbar also states its malware. So how can I install a clean version of your browser?

hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware on your pc.

  1. please go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).
  2. also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.
  3. finally, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner, which are specialised in adware and browser hijackers.

Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page

Firefox from mozilla.org does not come with anything conduit related. It would hurt Mozilla far too much for what little financial gain to include it.

It was likely was already on your system before you downloaded and then it targeted Firefox. Or maybe it was installed by recent install or update of another application (that had this conduit crap) at same time period because you did not do a custom install to uncheck the extras.

Some other applications may come bundled with conduit or other questionable junk, more so if downloaded from a alternate download site like cnet or download .com as they can add junk with their own installers to otherwise clean applications.

Just because you see it in Firefox does not mean it came with it.

To prove that Firefox does not come with any MixiDJ crap, Mozilla has actually blocked five different versions of this malware in past as they are listed on addons.mozilla.org/blocked/
