What happens to the emails on the thunderbird account if i change my email provider (but keep the same email-address)?
I need to change my email server as we are moving our domain from one provider to another. I am wondering if the thunderbird account is enough back up on its own.

I wonder what you think you means by a "thunderbird account"?
Thunderbird is an email client; a bit of software on your computer. It is not a service, nor a server, and it doesn't offer email addresses nor operate email accounts.
If you are going to lose the use of an account, save any messages you want to keep by moving those messages. You can move them either to an alternative working account, or to the Local Folders special account provided by Thunderbird. As its name suggests, Local Folders is stored locally and so is independent of any service provider or their servers. It is not a proper email account, as it has no provision to set up servers or email addresses for itself.
