I have Windows 7 Pro, and I have loaded the Virtual PC software to enable XP mode to run.I have done this to enable transfer of my Outlook Express mails and addresses to Thunderbird, which has been achieved relatively easily. I have TB installed on the main host drive and the virtual drive. While in the virtual pc it is possible to access the host drive, and any usb drives currently plugged in. The main computer is on a home network with access to the internet. The virtual computer is not on the network or the internet as far as I know. How come TB on the virtual drive receives emails? There is no antivirus on the virtual machine. In theory the av on the host should intercept atttempted intrusions before they can be transmitted to the virtual drive via TB. Food for thought?

My understanding is internet connectivity comes setup on those VMs out of the box. So nothing odd here at all. What is not configured out of the box is local networks.
