When are you going to maintain an up-to-date DNS interface?

I am continually frustrated by my inability to maintain Dragon Naturally Speaking, and having to downgrade to earlier versions of Firefox. Unfortunately the consequence I am forced to use Google Chrome which continues to work perfectly.

DNS is used by a number of people with disabilities and it is absolutely frustrating to have to downgrade the versions of software to maintain functionality. Surely you people can maintain an appropriate relationship with the software supplier to ensure ongoing compatibility.

Having uninstalled Firefox to go back to an earlier version I now find that that I had to reinstall all my ad blocking software as well. If you people want to maintain a competent user base, lift your game.

Hi, From your wording, I get the impression that you think you are directly contacting developers or Mozilla employees. You're re not. This is a community support forum. The people that answer questions here are users just like you, volunteering their time.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, go to the Help menu and select Submit Feedback.

Having said that, maybe someone here can help! I've never heard of Dragon Naturally Speaking. How does it interact with Firefox?

DNS used to use an extension to install a plugin to interface with Firefox. Because current Firefox releases only support Flash you would have to use 32-bit Firefox 52 ESR to be able to use this plugin.

Whilst it might solve the interface problem it means using an out of date Mozilla Firefox software with associated security risks.

As I use voice dictation regularly on web-based programs, with reluctance I will stop using Firefox, and unfortunately I must use Google Chrome or Explorer

Hi, actually it would not be using a out of date version of Firefox. It would be completely secure. Firefox esr https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ is for orginizations or groups and anyone having issues running the general release version has it does not have all the bells and whistles but does have all the security. You can download it from the above URL and since it is a full version installer you can tell it to install on another drive if you have one and run both.

ESR is short for Extended Support Release which means it gets security and allowed stability fixes.

Firefox 52.8.0 ESR was Released at same time as Firefox 60.0 Release. The 52.9.0esr out on June 26 will be the last major update for the older 52 ESR branch apart from any security and allowed stability updates for 52.9.X esr.

If this is a NPAPI Plugin then the 32-bit Firefox 52 ESR on Windows is the only way to use them while still having current security updates.

The current Firefox 52 ESR is at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/#legacy

I have taken your advice and installed Firefox 52.8 ESR, and notwithstanding the fact that it tells me that the Dragon Naturally Speaking plug-in is disabled, it actually works in that version of Firefox.

Whilst it has sold my media problem, I am too busy to faff about with this confusion, and whilst I will maintain Firefox in the background, I have shifted to Chrome which doesn't have any of these silly interface problems.

I don't know who is at fault here either Nuance who provide the software or FIREFOX who seem to be hellbent on making it incompatible.

For Dragon Naturally speaking plugin issues with FF and or FFesr you should contact Dragon Naturally support about why they haven't update their plugins to work with FF. Addons are not a FF forum user supported issue that is to be taken up with the Addon content creator to fix this problem.
