Cannot watch Youtube age restricted videos, the button to confirm that I understand and wish to proceed is not active.
Since recently, I cannot watch Youtube age restricted videos, the button to confirm that I understand and wish to proceed is not active. Other browsers do not have such problems. Safe mode on Firefox does not help.

Are you logged into your YT account when you go there? If not YT will block sites if they can't verify the account holder.
Make sure you are not blocking content.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}

Yes, I am logged in. As I said, the button to confirm is not active, it is there but it cannot be clicked.

I already said in my original post that Safe Mode does not help. I know about the Tracking Protection, and there is no Shield Icon in the address bar when I'm on the video page.

I have completely cleared the cache and deleted any cookies for youtube. Did not help. This obviously logged me out of youtube. I logged back in, went to the video page - same problem, the confirmation button is not active. Issue still only related to Firefox.
At this point, you should contact YouTube support.

Who would reply with "Does this happen on browsers other than Firefox? No? Then contact Firefox support".
Maybe watch this (especially the comments below the clip) :

What is typed in the address bar (hard to see when not in full screen mode) :
"Use your phone - it works "

The button works (is clickable) in this video, it just does nothing. In my case, the button is NOT ACTIVE. It is not clickable. It's like a static picture, the mouse cursor does not even change when hovering over it.

So the advice is not to use Youtube on PC. Great.
What I understand from that YouTube clip is that the button does not work (hence the title of the video), but that it does work for the uploader, using their phone ....
Did you read the comments below the video, though ?

I did. I have no age setting on my youtube account. It's not there. It is there on my gmail account, but that is different to my youtube account. Anyway, the same thing happens if I'm not logged in. The message now reads that I have to log in and confirm my intent to watch the video, but the button on the video frame is, once again, not active. I have to log in differently, not by using that button. So something is broken with these buttons in the video frame, and it's only broken in Firefox. As the comments on that same video say, using the same link in IE (or Edge, or Chrome, or whatever that is not Firefox) works fine.
The exact same problem here :

Would you be willing, as a last resort, to give this a try :

Right, this seems to be the exact issue I am having. Without a solution, unfortunately.

I just did that. Amazingly, the problem is still there. If this is the last resort, then I am at a loss.
