when watching a video on netflix or youtube or any video after about 30 seconds it will start buffering until the mouse is moved and if i roll the wheel on the mouse or continuesly move the curser around videos will play normaly. Ive also noticed that if i open some other window and just shrink it down and as long as its on top of the video page the videos will play normaly too. im sure the problem is just some setting somewhere but i have no idea which one as everything has been set back to factory settings and still having the same issue

Hi baer901, I can't think of a setting for that!!

Firefox may reduce bandwidth to inactive/background tabs in some cases, but your testing shows the opposite: it works better when the video is in the background tab.

A few years ago, there was an issue with Flash video stopping unless you kept moving the mouse. It's not clear what caused that, but in some cases, it might have been a virus or malware. If you haven't run a scan recently, it might be worth checking: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

If you reduce the video resolution to 480p or less, do the videos play better?

Don't know if it helps this particular problem in this message Thread, but FF 64.0.2 has a 'stuttering' fix for YouTube videos.
