"Empty Trash" doesn't work for some accounts
Recently I have noticed that the "Empty Trash" button does not work for all of my accounts. When I use it, the mails in the trash folder disappear for a fraction of a second and then reappear. If I select them all and just use "delete" they are permanently deleted.
I have removed Trash and Trash.msf from my profile to rebuild them but the problem is not solved.
This is affecting 2 out of 3 accounts for one service provider (all in the same profile). I've compared the settings for each account and they all seem to be identical (other than the account name and default mail address of course).
I'm using Thunderbird 60.4.0 (64 bit) on Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.6 (15G22010)).
Has anyone seen this behaviour and know how to fix it?

Presumably "Empty Trash" is an extension which stopped working. You may try to contact the add-on author.
Thanks for the reply but no, it's not an extension. Sorry , my mistake. I wrote "button" instead of "menu item". I was referring to "empty trash" in the right click menu.
The only extension I have installed is Lightning.
Try to rebuild the index file of the Trash folder. Right-click the Trash folder - Properties - Repair Folder
Thanks for the reply Christ1 but this does not solve the problem either.
