Bookmarks sync from different devices in the same place ?

more options

Hi ! I juste tried Firefox Sync to synchronize my bookmarks across all of my devices. But I saw that they are in different locations. I mean by location: "bookmarks from smartphone"*, "bookmarks from computer"*, etc... I would like to know if there is a way to configure them so they are all in the same place. If I want to sync them across my devices, it's to have the same everywhere. Actually, it's really annoying.

Thank you,

Spillou.

  • My computer and Firefox are in french, so I'm not sure that it's the exact text in english.

Sync does provide separate folders for "mobile" bookmarks (both Firefox for iOS and Firefox for Android versions) and for "desktop" bookmarks when a "mobile" device is used on the Firefox Account, "desktop" includes laptop computers. And they are stored like that on the Sync server, too.

Thank you for the explanation. So there's no way to change this.

This way to manage bookmarks is not very convenient. From my point of view, it should be better to have all of them merged than having different folders for a quicker access to the bookmarks and for an easier way to manage them. But I may think that others prefere this way. Impossible to make everyone happy :)

Is there a way to propose ideas we might have to the FF team ? I have some to share with them.

Sync is closed system with very few user options, so there is no way for the user to change that.

Going back 3 or 4 years Sync did merge all bookmarks with "mobile" being handled the same as "desktop". But as Firefox for iOS was going thru beta testing the current separation of "mobile" bookmarks was added to Sync for both "mobile" versions.
