After update 60.6.0 was installed Thunderbird slowed to a crawl. Now connection times out connecting to mail server. [WORKAROUND] Reinstall Thunderbird
Have used Thunderbird for years without problems. After automatic update 3 days ago new messages downloaded extremely slowly. Now connection times out before connecting to mail.optimum.net.

WHat are your results after starting Windows in safe mode?
Tried "safe" mode, no change to timeout problem. Wound up solving problem by uninstalling Thunderbird, then reinstalling with 60.6.1.
