How to display the number of tagged email in a folder in the folder pane?

more options

I have a lot of folders where emails are automatically sorted in. The number of unread email are displayed in the folder pane, but my current workflow means that I will read them, mark them read and assign a tag if they require actions at a later time.

But then it is difficult to keep track of them, since the number of tagged emails is not displayed. Is anyone aware of any method to achieve this? I know that I can save a search for tags [1] either in my whole account or each folder separately, but then I (a) need to define a search for each folder and (b) the number would still not be displayed in the folder pane similar to the number of unread emails.

There's a discussion here where the user wants to achieve the same thing, except with starred messages. Since it doesn't appear there was a solution then, or now, various workarounds such as saved searches and custom views are proposed. Note that a single saved search can include multiple folders satisfying the same filter rule.

Thanks for the reply. Of course it doesn't solve the problem. But at least there's other people missing pretty much the same feature.
