When I went looking for the YouGov login page I got this odd address:

https://today.yougov.com/(popup:login)

Is that the site you are referring to?

"Error 15" sounds like something specific to that site. I don't know whether they have a help page that explains it.

Did it work in Firefox before and stopped working recently? If a site is generally known to work in Firefox, these are standard suggestions to try when it stops working normally:

Double-check content blockers: Firefox's Content Blocking feature and extensions that counter ads and tracking may break websites that embed third party content (meaning, from a secondary server).

(A) Do you see a shield icon toward the left end of the address bar, near the lock icon? More info on managing the Tracking Protection feature in this article: Content Blocking.

(B) Extensions such as Adblock Plus, Blur, Disconnect, Ghostery, NoScript, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin or uMatrix should provide toolbar buttons to manage blocked content in a page. There may or may not be a number on the icon indicating the number of blocked items; you may need to click the button to see what's going on and test whether you need to make an exception for this site.

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "Clear Cookies and Site Data"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "Clear Cookies and Site Data"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button

In the dialog that opens, you will see one or more matches to the current address so you can remove the site's cookies individually without affecting other sites.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Testing in Firefox's Safe Mode: In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

i even reloaded my entire computer earlier it is doing the same thing

Can you login in a New Private Window or gives this the same error message ?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

That site no longer exist. I think your asking for something that can't be fixed as this is something from the site itself or disappearance of the site.

Your system details show "YouGov Pulse 2.0.8" - I was hoping
that might be the culprit, but Safe Mode didn't make a difference,
did it  ?

Nothing in those articles that could shed a light on it and disabling "YouGov Pulse 2.0.8" made no difference  ? Bummer ..... (you sure are a fast reader, though).

Could you give us the exact URL that you are using to get to that site, please ?

What happens when you click that address? On mine, the site does a double redirect:

1st new address: https://today.yougov.com/account/login/?next=/account/

2nd new address: https://today.yougov.com/(popup:login)

On your Firefox, does the address bar show either of those redirect addresses?

If you are getting a blank page, please make sure the redirect block is turned off:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste access and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the accessibility.blockautorefresh preference is bolded and "modified" to true, double-click it to restore the default value of false

That URL gets me to the login page; when I click on the "X" I get the homepage - nothing weird here on my end.

When it works with other browsers; it should also work with
Firefox .....

As you have tried everything that others have already suggested - unless somebody else comes up with the perfect solution for you; maybe you could contact them (if you haven't already) :

You can check the connection settings.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
