When I add a new task, the due date is off by one day

In Thunderbird 68, when I try to create a new task with a due date, and save it, the task then appears on my calendar on the FOLLOWING day instead of the date I selected. For example, if I choose 1/3/2020, then click "Save and close", the date on the task (on both Calendar and Task tabs) becomes 1/4/2020.

This happens when creating tasks from either the Calendar or Tasks tabs. To fix it, I have to double-click the task to edit it, then re-select the correct date and save, and then it retains the correct date.

Why is it doing this?

are your tasks synchronized to say google or another web provider? It might be your time zone is not set correctly in the web page your syncing to.
