How to segregate emails for different email addresses?

more options

I am using two different email addresses with Thunderbird and each can receive mail and send mail. However, the 2nd email address I added has its received emails transferred from its inbox to the inbox of the 1st email address I added after a short period of time - say 5 minutes. The emails sent from the 2nd email address remain in the sent box of the 2nd email address. I've looked to see if I can find any settings that maybe causing this to happen.

I have the same setup on a different laptop and it's doing the same thing.

Help!

Almost every time someone has appeared in this forum suggesting the mail from one account hops into the inbox for another account it is because they set up forwarding or collecting of mail in the web interfaces for their accounts. Usually it is they have set up google to get mail from another account. I have no idea why Google is a favorite, as most web mail providers offer the exact same thing.
