MAPI does not appear to be working in 68.3.1
Updated to version 68.3.1 (32 bit) and now unable to get Thunderbird to function as the default email program for a income tax database. I have set TB as the default email client and have it working great on other networked computers running earlier versions of TB. When I select a file to attach to an email, Outlook shows up and Outlook is not configured for email. The computer is running Windows 10.

MAPI works with TB 68 32b, but the presence of Outlook always causes problems like this. One method that sometimes works is to download and run the full 32b installer, install it over the existing setup, set TB as default email client during setup, then restart the computer (important). This also often fixes the Send To|Mail Recipient context menu command in File Explorer.

68.4.1 was release before I could reinstall 68.3.1 so I downloaded the newer version and installed it, This fixed the problem and I installed the new version instead of Updating it. Thanks for the recommendation. I also experienced some other attachment failure issues from other workstations that had been updated to the latest version and performing a reinstall fixed them. Seems there are some glitches in the update process.
I have just installed 68.4.1 and have this problem. I have not had any TB before. Mailto connects with TB but attachments go to my old mail system. I have set TB as default in Windows 10. I do not have Outlook installed.

It seems your system is applying two default clients, depending on the operation. See if you can disable any associations in your old mail program, or remove the program, set TB as the default in W10 Settings, Default apps and default apps by protocol, and run the full TB installer as described above, with reboot.
I have found that updating to 68.4.1 is different than installing it. I have a couple of computers that were updated and still had problems. I downloaded the program and installed it and the problems were resolved.
I had to uninstall my other system and download TB 68.4.2. I installed that to update TB and now it works
