I can't get Firefox to save login info for Norton

more options

I have the Norton Password Manager (PWM) extension installed. When I want to log in to any protected site for which I have already stored the login info, I have to log in to my Norton account before I can log in to the PWM itself.* The box for that has a checkbox "Remember me on this device," which I leave checked, but if I close Firefox and open it again, the box pops up exactly as before, whereas on Chrome, the login info is entered already. I have tried restoring Firefox to its default configuration and entering the Norton login info on both the logins page and on the cookie exceptions page, but nothing works. What's up?

  • This seems to be a relatively new requirement by Norton, which I already explored in another thread.

Hi again Tinwoodman, I use Norton Password Manager, also, and I can't get it to stay signed in, either. I found this on Norton's forum, so, maybe they can come up with a fix soon: Why do I have to do Norton Password Manager "Sign In" process over and over again after I close my Firefox 74.0 browser? https://community.norton.com/en/forums/why-do-i-have-do-norton-password-manager-sign-process-over-and-over-again-after-i-close-my

Phew. That thread is exactly what I was complaining about; I just hadn't found it. I note that it is dated only two days ago. That probably explains why the lower tier Norton support people were not very helpful.

There are a couple of other threads on their forum regarding the same problem. The extension updated on the 12th and since no one has lost any passwords or access to their vault I guess it's not at the top of the list to get it fixed. Norton is pretty good about fixing their products so, it shouldn't take too long.

I just tried Norton PWM in FF v. 73.0.1 - not staying signed-in

I don't use the PWM for banking or government, so it's not a big deal. I'll just change all non-critical passwords to an easy-to-remember one until it's fixed. PWM works normally on IE. I haven't tested Chrome or Edge.

Users on the Norton Community Forum are reporting that uninstalling the current version and installing version 6.6.3.5 is working as expected across all browsers.

more options

When you install the older extension, be sure to disable automatic updates on it's manager page.

This option is not in Vault Settings or anywhere in FF that I can see.

Uninstall the current version then, go to:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/norton-password-manager/versions/

Select version 6.6.3.5 and be sure to disable automatic updates on it's manager page after you add it to Firefox.

Sorry, I found it. Thanks for the help!!
