Is there a way to filter messages by the day of the week (not date!)?

I'd like to create a message filter based on emails arriving on certain days of the week.

I've staff who don't work certain days of the week, so if an email comes in on, say, Tuesday, I'd like to be able to set up an auto-reply for all emails arriving on Tuesday to that email address.

I can't set this up with my email hosting provider, they only provide a simple on or off function, nothing customisable or repeatable.

I haven't found any plugins which offer more advanced out-of-office or auto reply features, nor which expand the filtering functionality of Thunderbird in a way that allows day filtering.

Thank you!

被選擇的解決方法

I notice that the Received header contains the day as Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu etc., so to add the Received header to the filter or search rules, click the criterion drop-down, the one that defaults to Subject, click Customize... and add Received as a custom header. That allows a rule such as Received + contains + Thu. Before making a filter, test the rule with Classic Search, Ctrl+Shift+F.

Thank you, that is excellent. I think this will be helpful for a lot of people!

I tested it with the classic search as you suggested first, that worked nicely. Handly little hint.

I created a filter with the following settings

1. Filter AFTER junk classification (so you don't auto reply to junk email)

2. Match ALL of the following

   - Received contains "Tue" (or whatever day here)
   - From doesn't contain (email domain of the company here, e.g @company.com), so you don't auto reply to internal emails
   - Cc doesn't contain (email domain of the company here, e.g @company.com), so you don't auto reply to threads you are copied in

3. Reply with Template - select your out of office template you've created here

Thank you again!
