Currently using Firefox 78.0.2. My profile folder is C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\cnz76ezd.default-release but in this folder there is no searchplugins folder. How can I find that folder?

Hi,

I do have a folder 'searchplugins' but nothing has been changed since 2015, so I believe that it is not used in the newer versions.

You can add new search engines to Firefox using the procedure listed here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-or-remove-search-engine-firefox

I have a Profile that only has the One-Click Search Engines that come with Firefox, I don't have searchplugins folder either. Other Profiles that I have do have that folder and with whole lot of "add-on" search engines that I installed. IMO, that folder is created when the user saves their first "add-on" search engine.

The searchplugins folder is no longer used (45+). In current Firefox releases all search data is stored in search.json.mozlz4, but that can change and in the future this will be stored in IndexedDB storage (this was scheduled for 78.0, but was rolled back because of issues).

What we so far haven't asked is, why are you looking for the searchplugins folder? Are you wanting to remove something, modify something, etc.? If you describe what you're trying to accomplish, hopefully we can point you to a way to do it.
