This is still unresolved! :( In Thunderbird 68 I can disable it.

This is the only reason that is still preventing me to upgrade from TB 68 to TB 78! I really hate ClearType and the most important thing would be not to have it in the mail body / compose window.

See: Picture

I think the mail body component was modified and now it is ignoring the following settings: gfx.canvas.azure.backends settings = direct2d1.1,cairo,skia gfx.content.azure.backends settings = direct2d1.1,cairo,skia In TB 68 this works.

Switching hardware acceleration setting in Options/General/Indexing also does not help me with this in TB 78! (TB 68 works well if hardware acceleration is disabled. TB 78 not.)

Please create a bug ticket for the developers, so they can investigate this problem! Thank you!

I suggest you continue your discussion in the original topic. adding another is not going to appreciably assist you. Especially when I lock this as a duplicate of the other.

You are more than welcome to file a bug if you are sure it is a bug. but the two settings you mention should be set automatically using the hardware acceleration disabled preference. You will find the over riding preference in the config editor as layers.acceleration.disabled. The troubleshooting information on the help menu should show you the current status of direct2d
