Tags attributed to emails disappear

For some months, the tags I attributed to my emails have disappeared. I can retag each email, but as soon as I close Thunderbird and reopen it, tags have disappeared. I mean I still have the menu with my tags, but the emails are not anymore tagged, so I cannot sort my emails. That was an option really useful. How can I have it again ? Thanks for your help Christine

are you using IMAP? What email provider?

I have an email adress with Newmanity (ntymail.com), that is a small email provider. And I'm using IMAP.
