prefs1.js file Keeps filling up drive

On number of our computers user-->username-->AppData-->Roaming-->Mozilla-->Firefox-->Profiles--> Random letters and Numbers.default a File prefs1 keeps getting so large it fills up the drives>
Any thoughts on how to stop this

Run most or all of the listed free to use malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
About how long before you notice the problem?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
