Update caused changed colors
Just updated to latest Version 89.0. Rebooting the PC all of Firefox's colors changed to terrible washed out colors. Reading other inquiries I tried running the extension "Firefox Colors" but it didn't help. How do I reset to original default colors? Sincerely, DDBob.

Hi, There's a Firefox theme on the addons site called Photon Colors, which I found helps a lot.
Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/photon-colors/ and click on Install Theme.
Photon is a little better than "Firefox Colors" but still doesn't solve the problem. The tabs are the same color as the upper Menu bar and there is no designation border line between any of the boxes making it difficult to tell them apart. I was hoping there a way to get back to the original default colors but after reading Photon reviews apparently FF did away with the old defaults with the new version. I know little about customization but my understanding is I need to shop around in the Themes department, is this correct?
Sincerely, DDBob.
Hi DDBob, themes can't restore separator lines between tabs, unfortunately, so if you're missing those, you could consider two workarounds:
(A) Use a temporary preference in Firefox 89 to revert the tab bar changes (B) Use custom style rules in a userChrome.css file to tweak the tabs to your own specifications
Since (A) is so easy, I'll detail that here:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.proton.enabled and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch between true (new Proton style) and false (old Photon style)
Since this was kept in just for testing, there might be some occasional glitches.
WARNING: There are plans to remove this preference in the next two months The preference setting was created as a toggle for developers when building the new design. Now that the new interface has shipped, the preference will be removed.
If you have any issues with the new design, please let us know what it is you don't like, and we can try provide more permanent solutions depending on the issue.

jscher2000, thank you!
Chris Ilias: the issue is that I have visual processing problems, as well as not-great eyesight. I also frequently have up to 10 tabs open at a time when working on a problem. The combination of light grey font color, small font size, and no visual separation between the tabs is kryptonite to me. It is very difficult for me to distinguish between the tabs, and tell which tab I am currently working in.
On the home page, the smaller, less detailed icons, combined with the above font problems, makes it difficult for me to select one of my standard sites. Part of this is simply learning the new style, but not all, or even most. It is just difficult to visually distinguish between the icons and read the text.
For both these problems, the old Photon style is very helpful, and solves the worst of the problems. It does not, however, solve the problems with the font elsewhere (example, the popup when closing multiple tabs.)
From what I'm reading on the forum, it appears that other people are having similar problems. I hope you will take this into consideration before doing away with the ability to use the old Photon style. And I hope you will make it possible to increase the font size and change its color on Firefox itself, not just on web pages.

Just wanted to throw my support behind catherine_a51. The lack of visual indicators delineating tabs is maddening. I have 30+ tabs open across three windows at all times, and not having those indicators to make it clear where one tab ends and where the next begins is a significant detraction from the usability of the browser.
I agree that the FF upgrade is hard for me to use due to the washed-out color and lack of delineation between tabs. I hate to have to find a more usable browser, but I will if this isn't "fixed".

Sounds like you should use the temporary preference fix for now. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1337951#answer-1416567

Hi, I'm with DDBob - I'm having trouble visually discriminating between bars and tabs when they are all the same colour and have no borders between them. Fixes with themes go some way towards improving things, but the delineating lines seem to be 'hard-coded'.
This new browser look is a huge problem for me, too. I've moved to Photon Colors and it helps a bit but the whole tiny icon unboxed look is really hard to see and the font against the white or black is also hard to read. It's an accessibility issue for me and I am even thinking of moving to Chrome, I dislike this so much. It fatigues my eyes after even after a short time working in the browser space. This is a plea to developers to please fix this.
