Soundcloud fails to load except in incognito mode
Hello,
The past few weeks I have run into the issue where Soundcloud fails to load and returns an error. This is circumvented multiple ways. Either I open soundcloud in incognito mode and it works fine, or I clear the cache in normal mode. BUT in the second option soundcloud only works during the first visit.
I found a previous question asked here detailing the same exact issue but nobody found a solution that worked. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1346767
Other info I think would be useful: Soundcloud works on my laptop running the same exact profile for firefox. Hinting to me that something else on my computer is in the way.
Deleting all history, cookies, cache, extensions; has not helped
I have attached the images below just as the previous poster has. Including the console log filled with errors.
Hopefully someone can help with this headache!

A full browser screenshot would be more helpful. see screenshot Incognito mode worked for you... I assume you had no add-ons running in Firefox during that time. Did you also try Firefox in Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-4troubleshoot-modesf5safe-modesf
What security software are you running? Did you try under a different windows account?
Below I have attached a full browser screenshot!
Safe mode however did not work for me, no. And I only use windows defender for security. I haven't installed any other antivirus programs or similar. And no I don't unfortunately have another windows account. I could try that later today, although it's a rather lengthy task that I can't really undo.
steps to create another windows account. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=steps+to+create+another+windows+account.
What happens if you go to google first, search for soundcloud, and then click on the link?
Also, try forgetting the site. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/remove-websites-address-bar-suggestions
Thanks, still searching for other options before creating an entire other account. I think I'll try reinstalling firefox next.
Also forgetting the site works but also only for the first visit. For example after searching for soundcloud, it opens fine, logging in, yes, everything is fine. Refresh the page, broken.
Googling soundcloud separately has the same effect as going directly
Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via Settings or via the padlock icon (Clear cookies and site data).
"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:
- Settings -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"
"Clear the Cache":
- Settings -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/clear-cookies-and-site-data-firefox
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
If clearing cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder that stores the cookies got corrupted.
- rename/remove cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and when present delete cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlite-wal in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).
- Help -> More Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Folder/Directory:
Windows: Open Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
Cor-el, I have tried both solutions you described, sadly they did not work. I also went and completely uninstalled firefox, then reinstalled. Still has the same issue! Very strange. I believe this is now an issue of something else on my computer, perhaps a virus. Since this still works fine on my laptop/phone firefox browser.
Are you using a proxy or VPN?
You can check the connection settings.
- Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
See "Firefox connection settings":
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/websites-dont-load-troubleshoot-and-fix-errors
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-and-other-browsers-cant-load-websites
You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
Gosh... I really wanted that to work too! I first selected "no proxy", it was set to system proxy. No change unfortunately.
Then the same for the new profile. I opened the fresh new window, typed in soundcloud, logged in as usual, waited a bit, used the site for a while. Then when I refreshed the page, bam, broken again.
I hope this issue isn't as headache inducing to you as it is to me! I think today now I will try creating a new windows profile as much as I don't want to. It seems I have no choice. If I succeed I'll reply again with the solution
Oh! I just realized as well that Spotify also fails to load. It's not just Soundcloud. The same exact issue appears with the initial load being fine but the second visit never working again.
Below I have attached the error log if that might be of any help to you.

Same issue here, for both Spotify and Soundcloud. It only applies to the Spotify web player, not the Spotify main website. So this not-loading issue has something to do with the web pages involving audio.
