STOP saving images as WebP

more options

Please add an option to disable saving images as webP. This is useless. If this is not going to get addressed in the next update I will, among many others uninstall Firefox and use a different browser.

WebP is a garbage format. Maybe it's not, maybe it's great, but it still is not widely supported yet. So pull your heads out of your *** and fix this sh**.

Thanks

This issue is the servers are likely adding WebP compression on the fly to JPEG and PNG images and Firefox does not have a converter to convert them back.

Just to verify... You're saying that when you go to save any image from the web you get WebP?

I am almost certain that I have seen reference to an extension for that.

Hi Andrew, can you head over to Mozilla Connect and vote for this product idea:

https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/save-webp-files-to-original-format-easily-in-firefox/idi-p/731

It's "trending" but it needs a big push to get onto the product roadmap.

Oops, I updated that post and now it's hidden until a moderator approves it. Sorry about that.
