I want a brand new profile for Nightly, in order to sync with pre-existing data already in use in FDE

I already have a profile with all the extensions, passwords, bookmarks, etc., that I want, with FDE. I want to start using Nightly, but dislike the continual moving of passwords & bookmarks, so I just want to use Firefox Sync for this.

(1) Is Sync a good option for me here? I would use FDE & Nightly on the same laptop.

(2) If my plan is ok, what is the best way to start with a new Nightly profile (which I would then Sync)? I tried deleting my old Nightly profile, uninstalling Nightly, and then downloading & uninstalling Nightly again, but every time I do this (including a reboot after uninstalling), I get a profile cannot be loaded error message every time I try to start Nightly. I don't want to use an old profile with Nightly, because I do not want to sync old data at all.

Suggestions?

You should be able to use the Profile Manager to create additional profiles with Nightly and DE that normally have their own default profiles (Nightly: xxxxxxxx.default-nightly , DE: xxxxxxxx.dev-edition-default).

Best and easiest is to create shortcuts to launch each Firefox with a specific profile via the -P "profile" command-line switch to avoid mixing up and corrupt profiles.

Thanks, after posting the question I searched and realized that I could do that, so I created a new profile, and then had the Profile manager delete my old one. It created a backup of it on my desktop. At some point next week I'll delete the old one.

As far as mixing up and corrupting profiles, my plan is to only use one profile with each version. FDE has its unique profile, and so does Nightly.

And I 99% of the time won't be using them both at the same time. I plan on using Nightly as my daily driver, until there is a glitch that obstructs my work flow. Then, I'd seamlessly switch (because of Sync, which I have working now) to FDE.

Would this useage pattern still benefit from using command line switches? If I'm only running one version at a time, I'd think I would be ok. What do you think? This is the first time I've worked with sync on Firefox, doing this...
