Firefox browser constantly asks me to create a new profile: "You've launched an older version"

Every few days, Firefox makes me log back in again to my account and "create" a new profile version - the message I get is that I have launched an older version, and can only EXIT or CREATE NEW PROFILE. The problem is when I have to do this, I lose all the pinned tabs I had open, also I have to log into Gmail each time and generally set the profile up again. I can then access my bookmarks and containers but not the tabs I had open.

Is there a way to stop Firefox from forcing me to relaunch my profile each time? Its frustrating to lose the pinned data and have to log back into my Firefox profile, then Gmail, then try to figure out where I was at last. Note, the pinned tabs are not things I need to bookmark but rather a running list of tasks/things I need to complete - and unfortunately I don't know when I will be forced to launch a new profile but don't want to create a bookmark each time for temporary tabs... for example, last night I was just in the middle of planning a trip so had a few tabs open to come back to, but when I logged into my laptop this morning, I was forced to create a new profile and have lost these tabs I had pinned.

According to the System Details, you appear to be using Firefox 104.0.2 while the current release is 111.0. Any special reason for using this old version as that is likely the cause of that message?

Thank you, I have just updated to the current release and will see if that helps - but I also already have Automatic Updates selected under General, is there any reason why it wouldn't auto-update?

It's just happened again, less than 24hrs later - seems to happen every time Firefox releases an update (I see the new version is 111.0.01). The entire browser disconnects from the internet and essentially hangs, forcing me to restart and update.

So the browser recognises there is a new version, but can't update automatically without kicking me out of my profile and asking me to sign in again - which is a bit frustrating. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

This has happened to me twice and it is a major inconvenience. I lost all of my bookmarks and history and this has seriously disrupted my workflow. I am using the Duck Duck Go browser to write this because I have no intention of returning to Firefox until this problem is fixed.

The latest version was installed yesterday and I fail to see how this could possibly be an old version. I have attached a screenshot of the error message.

I would greatly appreciate it if some kind person from Mozilla would tell me how to fix the problem. I can't use Firefox which was my default browser until this error started.
