Can recent Firefox update cause "Windows Explorer has stopped" fault?

more options

OS = Windows 7 Pro. Web-browser = Firefox. Both worked very well for many years on desktop PC and laptop. Recently desktop PC repeatedly reported "Windows Explorer has stopped" whenever Firefox was started. Today I updated Firefox on my laptop after several weeks of non-use. "Windows Explorer has stopped" appeared immediately Firefox started - error never seen before on the laptop. Could the most recent update to Firefox be the cause of this fault?

Close many and not needed programs running in backgrond with Taskmanager. Try to use Safe mode for Firefox Make a new profile for Firefox. Backup your Firefox and perform a fresh install.
