Firefox and www.bt.com
Hi folks
Until about two or three days ago the www.bt.com website opened as usual, with first of all its cookie panel taking over the screen asking whether to accept cookies or manage cookies, and after handling that the site was perfectly usable.
As of two or three days now the cookie panel does not come up NOT AT ALL [but see also the last part of this message], and the screen is lightly-greyed-out. The screen scrolls but nothing at all is clickable.
However, in Chrome and Edge the site opens and works as expected.
The site also opens on the iPhone using both Safari and Firefox and works as expected.
It is just FF on my W10x64 Desktop where I have the unclickable lightly-greyed-out screen problem.
Perhaps something has chaged in FF, so I went into Settings-Privacy & Security- and then did the following:-
- Went to Site Data then "Manage Exceptions then I specifically typed in and Allowed the www.bt.com website
- Then went to Permissions and Block pop-up windows and in Exceptions I typed in and Allowed the www.bt.com website
- Then cleared FF cache
- Then reloaded FF
After all of this - no change; the www.bt.com screen is still in a lightly-greyed-out and unclickble, but still scrolls, however, after taking the above bulleted steps, the cookie panel now momentairily only flickers onto the screen and then disappears, and, sadly, the screen remains lightly-greyed-out and unusable.
Am I missing some sort of blocker for this website?
All other websites work on the Desktop PCs FF as expected. It is just this www.bt.com website that is the issue.
I have spent 30 mins with a BT Support Agent on the phone and we both agree that as Chrome, Edge and Safari are all fine it must be an issue with the Desktop version of FF.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Strange as it's working fine for me, though I'm on Linux rather than Windows.
Have you tried Troubleshoot Mode? Click Alt-h and choose it from the drop down menu that appears. If the site works OK in that mode than it must be something in your settings or an extension that's causing the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion of Alt-H. I have no understganding why but in Troubleshoot Mode, and later back in 'Normal' mode, the errant BT website works again. Perhaps I shouldnb't question it and instead just say a big thankyou for the suggestion. Case closed.
