Hi, I have a virtual synth called Omnisphere. I open Firefox and go to YouTube, and I'll select a video to play. (I typically do this so I can use the Omnisphere synth to play along to for practicing my keyboard skills. YouTube will play just fine, but when I open Omnisphere, then try to play the YouTube video simultaneously, YouTube will just hang and won't play. I close Omnisphere and YouTube will play fine again. I know you'll think this is an issue with my virutal synth Omnisphere, but the strange thing is, that that same company makes another virtual synth called Keyscape, and when I try playing Keyscape and YouTube together, it works just fine. To me, this seems to be some kind of sharing issue, and likely a sharing setting of some kind. The audio settings in both Omnisphere and Keyscape are identical, so why would one work, but not the other?. I couldn't find any kind of virtual device sharing settings in Firefox or YouTube. The company that makes these virtual instruments has told me that it works fine with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, that's why I'm leaning towards the browser being the issue. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks very much, I appreciate it.

You need to contact their support as to why it doesn't work with Firefox browser since Mozilla doesn't own that software.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. Yes I've been emailing back and forth with their support. So far between the two of us we haven't found a solution yet, but we haven't given up yet. I just thought maybe there was some audio setting in Firefox or YouTube that I'm overlooking. Trying to cover all the bases.

Spectrasonics support tells me that they've tested their software Omnisphere on their end and it is working fine with Firefox. So for some reason it's not working for me with Firefox. Are there any settings in Firefox that are for sharing audio? If it is working for them, but not for me, I thought maybe there is some setting that needs changing. The only other thing I can think of is that it is a resource issue, but it's not with my PC because I have a very fast PC, I mean a "resource sharing" issue, both Firefox and Omnisphere would be trying to share the same audio card in this scenario. Anyway, this has been rather frustrating to try and figure out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Problem solved, at least for now. After going over some of the settings, I noticed that my VST sample rate was set to 44100, and when I changed it to 48000Hz, everything worked fine. Both Youtube and my VST were able to play at the same time. I did not see any settings in Firefox where I could check the sample rate, and since no one mentioned that as possibly being the problem, this was purely a trial and error solution...ie..I got lucky I guess. Is there somewhere in Firefox where I would be able to see the sample rate, and other related settings?
