how to update browser from 3.5.9 to newest version for linux mint 8 .deb

i am trying to update to the newest version of firefox for linux mint 8 gnome but it only shows a .bz file or something like that but i use .deb files. when i try to run that file offered it does not udate my browser at all it does nothing.

anonymous your answer did not help me at all, your asking me for .deb packages that i do not even have. i am looking for help forthis problem to, so you need to ask someone else for what you are looking for.
