Home page redirects, but with "null" on screen

I have another kind of problem with Firefox
Description
Have been having problems with FF not saving tabs after crash or on reboot, even though it is set to do so, and Private Browsing is unchecked. But I also had a problem with AIM messaging and just solved that problem yesterday by uninstalling program, cleaning registry, then reinstalling AIM. Today FF crashed. I could not open it again, so I rebooted. This time, when I opened FF, it still didn't open my previous tabs but, new problem, it opened to what should have been my home page, which is Yahoo Mail, only it showed a long string in the address bar that clearly contained "aol." But the screen only said "null."

Go to the address about:crashes and tell us your latest crash IDs. We can then look at the data specific to your crash and have a better idea of what is causing the problem.

OK It appears the problem is with NPSWF32.dll which is Shockwave Flash or Adobe Flash Player. Try uninstalling Flash player and reinstalling it.
Also disable each of your plugins one by one to also solve your problem.
How would I uninstall Shockwave Flash? There is only the button to Disable it. I also have Shockwave for Director. Should I also uninstall that??
It also occurred to me to mention that when I close Firefox using File>Exit or when Firefox is restarted after an update, my previously opened tabs re-open just fine. It is just after a crash or a reboot without closing FF first, that that tabs are not saved. I don't know if this changes anything.

Try to disable OOPP (Out-Of-Process-Plugins)
You can set the prefs dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.* to false on the about:config page to disable the plugin-container process. dom.ipc.plugins.enabled (currently false by default) dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll (Flash) dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll (Silverlight) dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll (QuickTime)
