When I try to shut down Win7 (Home Premium) , Firefox hangs and must be manually force quit. If I close Firefox before shudown, there is no issue. There are no warnings when I open or close Firefox (3.6.8).

It is always better to close all programs before you shut down the computer instead of forcing the program to close.

That reply adds absolutely no information and the person is just being a smart ass.

You should not I repeat not have to shut down a browser to shut down a compouter. Claiming you should have too is silly.

This is the kind of thing that will make me choose another browser. One that works the way I expect it to.

I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 and the problem went away.

Firefox really is advancing versions fast now... :)

I have the same problem. I run 3 different PCs, all with Windows 7 x64, FireFox 9 in all cases and on all systems this problem happens. When I shutdown Windows while FF is still running, FireFox will hang up and it has to be force closed. When I exit FF before shutting windows down, no problems occur.
