Javascript is not working

FireFox 3.6.16 on XP

The Tools/Java Console does not launch, a streaming media player has an error - 'player.controls is undefined' which is why I was thinking of using the Java Console.

I tried launching FireFox in safe mode with no luck. Maybe it's not a problem with Firefox? I'm not sure what to check. Any website I found that tests for javascript says that it's working fine. It's up to date and all I can think is something must be blocking it. I tried disabling all my security & anti-malware with no improvement.

Do not confuse Java and JavaScript settings and preferences for interactive web pages.

Both are quite different and in your case you probably have a problem with JavaScript or there is a problem with the code on that web page.

Can you post a link if it happens on a particular web page and that page can be accessed publicly (no log in)?

Ohhh. Ok, so the Java Console is only for Java. Well I'm not really interested in why that's not launching then.

I'm unable to direct link to the problem area, it's http://kexp.org/streamarchive/archive_time.asp But if you want to click through, this is the site: http://kexp.org/Default.aspx

Then I go to the streaming archive. This is done by clicking the 'On Demand' menu at the top of the site, choosing the first choice in the drop-down menu - 'On Demand'.

The next page has a link called 'Streaming Archive', I click on this.

The next page has several choices. From this point on it doesn't matter which I pick, it all malfunctions on launching the player. So lets say I pick the 'Listen By Time' and choose the previous day at 1:00PM. (the station has a delay on how recent they can stream from the archive)

The next page has a set of choices on what type of stream. I don't have or want the Silverlight or Real Players, so I choose the Windows Media, 96k stream.

This launches the player window, but the player controls are missing and no sound. The Error Console in FireFox says Player.Controls is Undefined http://kexp.org/streamarchive/popup poll.asp Line 80
