Why when I open 14 tabs does the "open a new tab" button (+ symbol) goes away?

When I open 14 tabs the "open a new tab" button (+ symbol) goes away. If I have thirteen tabs open the plus symbol remains visible to the extreme right of the tabs. Why does this happen? I have used Firefox as my only browser for a number of years and I don’t remember this behavior happening with previous versions of the program. I do tend to have a number of tabs open in the same browser. Is this practice frowned upon and thus you handicap users when they open too many tabs. Any help is appreciated.

If you many tabs open then Firefox switches from the New Tab button next to the last tab to the toolbar New Tab button at the far right of the Tab bar. If you have moved that New Tab button to another toolbar in a previous Firefox version then it may no longer show there. You can try to click the Restore Default Set button in the Customize window to see if that bring back the button.

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
