I was an explore v.8 internet user before switching to firefox 4. I am still running Windows XP Professional that is and been check, for all current updates. I am a new user with firefox and trying to learn the system through your tutorials and examples.

My home page does not match your illustration of Firefox 4. Such as, no single firefox tab but the old --file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, and help tab, for example.

Do I need to re-load firefox 4, secure something in explore 8, install a patch?

Thank you for your time.

The Firefox button that replaced the Menu Bar is on by default only in Vista and Windows 7.

To turn off the Menu Bar and turn on the Firefox button, the "Menu Bar" option must be un-checked (un-checked = Firefox button on, Menu Bar off; checked = Menu Bar on, Firefox button off). To do that, you can do one of the following:

  • Using the Menu Bar, click View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
  • Using the Firefox button, click Firefox button > Options > Menu Bar
  • HOLD down the ALT key while typing the keyboard letters VTM to toggle on/off

Thank you for the information. As I stated, I am a newbe to FireFox and as such, still learning!
