You can try this extension if you have compatibility issues with other extensions,

It's the new Beta Version 3.5b1 of Fast Dial released on 23-th June this year! Compatible with Firefox 3.0 ; 4.0 ; 5.0 and 6.0

Thanks Under_Cover77 - installed the update and everything works just fine. I was actually wondering, why FastDial is not working anymore, although the problem for sure is present since some time. But i'm using keywords to navigate through my bookmarks, so i did not really notice the blank page opening up when strg+t'ing. :-)
