Why am I suddenly getting multiple attack pop ups from Windows that want me to purchase their Explorer antivirus/antimalware stuff?
I went to look up a drug on my Google browser and got multiple attack alerts from Windows. I ran my own Avast and Malwarebytes programs and got rid of a few bugs. But now I keep getting XP Antivirus Alerts that tell me I'm under attack. I can't get them off, they keep popping up. I reran my security systems and they say all is well. I finally checked out Windows Security and they won't just run security, I have to purchase it and it's connected to Windows Explorer and I don't use that, I use FoxFire. Plus I HAVE my own security programs. But no matter how many times I hit the X button or say NO I don't want the protection the pop ups continue and the little icons in the bottom menu bar won't go away. How do I get rid of this? I know there have been some things going on between Windows and Google and Facebook and stuff. Is this screwing up my computer?

Thanks jscher2000. I went to the links you posted and cruised the suggestions. Ended up booting in SafeMode and doing Malware/Antivirus scans there. I dont' have much of a tech background so figured that would be the safest first try. Both security programs found bugs and at this point looks like finding and deleting the stuff there did the trick. I think the source culprit was some sort of bogus Java script or program. I'd seen that come up in a previous scan but at that point thought it had been deleted. But I think I needed to do the SafeMode so my security programs could finish the job. Right now all is quiet on the western front so....... Thanks again!
