Since upgrading to 6.0, some sites can't be read at all. Instead of regular fonts, there are symbol fonts. Below is only one example. It doesn't happen on every site, only some. I've tried everything on the support page for "web pages not loading properly" (or whatever it's called). Could it be a plug-in problem?

Decided to make this one final try. Changing grx.downloadable_fonts.sanitize to false did nothing. I'm sticking with Safari until Firefox issues a fix. Thanks again for all your help. Over & out! Jane

It is really a problem with one of the fonts.

You can try to test the fonts here:

The site that you posted uses Times New Roman (Times New Roman, Times, serif) and Arial (Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif) as the default.

After none of the recommendations here worked, I simply downgraded to Firefox 5.01. I'm much happier now. ;-)

Hey! You must know that Firefox 5.0.1 is an insecure version of FF and no longer supported by Mozilla. If you're really determined to downgrade, the right version is 3.6.22. It's still supported.

Just updated to Firefox 7.0...problem remains. :( Guess I'll just keep using Safari.

I just came back here after installing Firefox 7.0. I decided to try this test -- lo & behold, the vast majority of my fonts render in the same mess that I originally posted. I have no idea what to do about it. No problems on Safari.

Did you try the font test to see which font(s) are causing problems?

Yes I did; that's how I discovered that almost all fonts show the messed up way. With Safari (which I'm using now) they're all fine.

Try to remove the symbol font that is displayed in your case to stop Firefox from using it.

cor-el: I removed that font -- now there's just blank spaces where it was! As there's no problem with Safari, I wish the good folks at Firefox would simply fix whatever's wrong! There are many of us experiencing the problem, not only me. Thanks for trying to help!

There may still be another font that Firefox is using instead, otherwise you would see the hex code in a little square box.
