Hi, I've encountered an annoying quirk in FF that forces me to either hit enter or press the go arrow button after I pick a website from the URL history drop down menu. It always used to just follow immediately to whatever was chosen, but now I either have to use the keyboard or make an extra move with the mouse to make it go. What do I need to do to make it behave like it used to? Thanks in advance.

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
