Hi everyone,

i need to move the bookmarks (.sqlite) file to a shared network drive. each user has there own.I would like to change the default location. I am even willing to move the whole folder under documents and settings/application data/.

i have tried to use a cfg file but do not and can not find a setting that would do this.

profile manager is not an option. the computers are frozen with deep freeze.(prevents system changes when frozen). and there can be up to 50 differnet user per pc.

any ideas? is this possible?

thanks for the reply however i had already looked into those articles and none were what i wanted. here's a little more detail.

what i need is to change the location bookmarks are saved at.If it's not possible can i change the location profile information is created.

here is an example

as you know if i open firefox for the first time logged in as me it will automatically create the required folders under c:\document and settings/application data/mozilla however since we use deepfreeze once the computer restarts those folder would be gone there for if i had save any bookmarks they would disapear as well. if i use say profile manager to create the file on the network share. once the computer was restarted those change would be gone to. meaning every time i restarted my pc i would have to re-run the profile manager. for me that's fine but the other regular users will not do that. and some pc can hav up to 30 different people using them.

can firefox be set to create those folders under a network share say h:\firefox?

i am using mozilla.cfg file to set home page and other setting that need to be locked.

You will have to create a folder yourself on the network share before starting Firefox the first time and use an absolute path to the profile folder (-profile "profile_path") to avoid Firefox creating a local profile folder in Documents and Settings (XP) or Users\<user> (Vista and later) as written in the "Command Line Options" article.
