How do I keep firefox from opening tabs automatically without my permission and taking me to websites I don't want to visit
Recently my browser has begun opening tabs and taking me to websites without my permission. I wish don't want this happening and wish to disable this. What do I need to do?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
