Pressing "F11" will toggle Full Screen mode on/off in most browsers. In Full Screen mode you will not display toolbars.
Location bar in Firefox or Address Bar in any other browser is where you type in a url address, it is on the Navigation bar and it is not a window.
If you are missing toolbars and are not in Full Screen mode,
- "Alt" > Toolbars > ...check mark menu bar or other toolbar
If you have your toolbars but are missing parts of thyem use "cutomization".

You can make Firefox 8.0.1 look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 9.0, look like 3.6). Whether or not you make changes, you should be aware of what has changed and what you have to do to use changed or missing features.
There is a lot more beyond those first 10 steps listed, if you want to make Firefox more functional.
Please mark "Solved" one answer that will best help others with a similar problem -- hope this was it.
the F11 solution does not work to correct the situation. when you click on the + sign to open a new tab up you get a blank white screen which is fine, however there is no longer an input box to type in your email address as there was before Friday. and of course the backwards and forwards arrows still remain missing soooooooo I will have to go to my desk top and print out the instructions in order for me to fix this issue on my lap top..... I do not have ample time until tomorrow afternoon to accomplish this task. WHY would Firefox make it more complicated to use their product, its just plain stupid ! Tomorrow I will reply again after I have tried your solutions.
that email address is actually suppose to be site address
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
- Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"
- Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
- If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
- If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
- If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up
