I just upgraded to the newest version of Mozilla and now I can't access Yahoo IM from my Yahoo mail page. I can open and close IM, but when I click on a contact to chat, nothing happens. I get no messenger window to type in and when people send me an IM, I have no window to reply. Help!

Hi icsailor,

This sounds like a known issue reported here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713014

There was a workaround posted, but I've not tested it myself. Here are the steps.

  1. Go into Yahoo Messenger Options - Change the Window in the dropdown to Tab and press OK.
  2. Then go back and switch it to small window and press OK.

Once the bug is officially resolved, you could try running a Nightly or Aurora build to use the fix early.

Hopefully this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion, Mat! When I click "options", the messenger options won't drop down. I can get the mail options to drop down, but not messenger. Suggestions?

I changed to a tab, and it seems to be working now. Thanks a million!

How did you get the messenger options to work? Mine does the same thing, can get in email options but not messenger. Works fine on IE but not firefox.

I can now get into IM options. I have to change from small window to tab then back to small window to get IM to work! It is SO frustrating! Now I can't get my online contacts to show. If anyone out there has an answer, PLEASE let us know!

Same problem here...have to think it'll be fixed soon enough. I'm back to Safari for this one thing and using Firefox for everything else. It's manageable for the time being. Not ideal, but I hate to change settings and such.

Thanks Greg, this is such a pain! Guess I'll just have to put up with it until Mozilla makes a fix. Seems like Yahoo only wants us to use Explorer!
