ex: I get an email with an imbedded link. I click on the link and immediately new tabs start opening in the menu bar. Doesn't happen all the time and also happens with links on web pages.

Hi,

Please check if this happens in Safe Mode. If possible please also try to rule out hardware / mouse settings issues.

Thanks for all of the links. The good news is that the problem did not occur when I clicked on any of the links you supplied. I did update a couple of add-ons but I don't see myself opening Firefox in safe mode every time I go online. I was hoping that someone had the same problem and thus knew exactly what was causing it.

Thanks again for your help although I am still hoping for a less complicated solution.

You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.

Thanks cor-el. These steps appear to directly apply to the problems I have be experiencing. I made a few changes although I haven't yet tried to see if the changes worked. I'll save your answer for a while in case I have to try the more radical changes.

Thanks again for finding the answer to my issue.
