Since I've upgraded (well, technically it's an upgrade) to Firfox 10 my favorite little button on the Home page for restoring my previous session has vanished. I didn't notice until recently as I was rushing to look things up, but it occurred to me I had tried to save a session. When I opened Firefox to write this I saw the button pop up and quickly vanish, so I guess something is going on. Any ideas?

I can't answer your question, but just wanted to note that you can restore your previous session another way:

History menu > Restore Previous Session

Is the about:home page still set as the home page?

If that button is absent on the about:home page then that usually means that there is nothing to restore.

Do those tabs reload if you choose this setting?

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

Make sure that you do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the Browsing History.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy: History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings

Use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.
