I have a problem with only two websites. Each requires a pw for access. Once in, can't get access to info on more pages. Not browser specific.

Here's the error I receive: The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. This happens consistently with only these two websites. I've checked with them (one is my bank, other is realtor) and there are no technical issues on their side. It only happens on my MAC running OS X 10.8.1. Firefox is 16.0. Happened on previous version as well. Safari just shows a blank page which never loads. I've checked with my ISP to no avail. Can't find solution anywhere.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Hi, I've tried that a couple of times and it doesn't work. Thanks for taking the time to write.

I spoke with the website administrators for the websites I'm having an issue with. Apparently they are not compatible with the latest versions of Firefox and Safari, therefore the problems. I will see if installing an older version of one of those will help the problem.

Thanks for letting us know. You can get an older version of Firefox here but be careful, it doesn't have all the latest security fixes - Install an older version of Firefox
