Why Firefox can't play this audio stream?

It looks like the site only streams mpeg audio, which Firefox is currently unable to play due to licensing issues.
Some third-party plugins may be able to handle it for you- Apple's QuickTime, for example ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/quicktime-plugin-play-audio-and-video ).
There's a chance that MP3 playback could be supported in the future, though. You can track its progress here, if you're interested: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799318
If that player had a height then you could easily copy the audio URL and open that is a tab.
That works for me on Linux with the Gnome Media player to hear each stream.
