How can I disable all functionality of the location bar to attempt to populate sites based on what I am typing

As I am typing into the URL bar, it keeps populating with websites that I DON'T want to go to. The functionality is stupid and I want to turn it off completely. I have the Location Bar suggestions set to "Nothing" in my options, and I have disabled some about:config items to do with the urlbar autofill. What else do I need to do to get this functionality out of here. I was sure that I had used an addon in a previous installation, but I can't find anything anywhere. I want the location bar to be 100% silent when I am typing something into it.

Do you mean auto-completion in the location bar?

You can set the Boolean pref browser.urlbar.autoFill to false on the about:config page.

See "Prevent Firefox from automatically completing URLs":
