just checked the settings ... they have been reset to never retain history.... previous history is still there...... settings reset to always retain history & history has begun to collect again.

Is there any way to get my history back?

why did it happen?

is it likely to happen again?

Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
  2. Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.

Thanks in advance for your help!

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

History that is lost can't be retrieved, but if Firefox is currently keeping history then it should be fine for now. You would need an older copy of the places.sqlite database file to get the lost history back.

Issues with settings getting changed can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Can you list your extensions?
