All of my (100+) passwords for my FTP accounts were lost on my latest Firefox crash. I had to reinstall my browser & plugins. When I opened FireFTP, all of the accounts are gone. However, the passwords still appear in Firefox's saved passwords. I'm trying to get FireFTP to recognize these again, and/or find a way to import them into FireFTP.

Are you sure that Firefox didn't reset and moved the old Firefox Profile Folder to the desktop ad Old Firefox Data or otherwise created a new profile?

Any luck with using Recuva to recover the file?

It is always best to backup such files, especially if you have a hundred accounts set up via FireFTP like in your case.

Please reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using one of the following steps:

  • Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload button with the left mouse key.

OR

  • Press Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows and Linux)
  • Press Command + Shift + R (Mac)

See if this helps solve the issues you had and please report back to us!

Refresh the page for the plugin? FireFTP is not a website, it's an add-on. That didn't work.

Do you still see all the passwords in the Firefox Password Manager?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

Try to contact the developer for help.

Yes, I do.

As I mentioned above: "the passwords still appear in Firefox's saved passwords".

I'm here because the author of the plugin is no longer offering support, and there is no way to get him to respond.

Do you have a fireFTPsites.dat and fireFTPprograms.dat files in the Firefox Profile Folder?

The former appears to store the login data in JSON format, so if that files is missing then FireFTP may no longer recognize those accounts.

After the crash those files were cleared out for some reason. Nothing else on my computer changed, it was just a firefox crash.

Cor-el, you're the man. It did indeed reset (never had that happen in years), but the FireFTPsites.dat file was indeed in an Old Profile folder on my desktop. Copying that file to my active firefox profile fixed everything. Thanks for the help!

You're welcome.
